Well I FINALLY got back on Etsy! I'm so excited. It's been about two and a half years and I tell you, the other sites just don't compare. I've already gotten two orders and I'm just....so glad to be back. Looking at all my old feedback almost made me tear up! Check out the shop here. I DO have my website of course and would love for you to go there too.
Another fun thing was getting back to the appreciation photos I never saved. My first customer photo is just the cutest! The buyer told me her cat loved the bag, haha! It was a messenger bag made with this adorable candy hearts fabric.

ATTACK!!!
One of my favorite places to frequent online is a forum called Attack of the Craft. I refer to it as "the forum" because there really is no other that I care so much about. Attack of the Craft is a super fun place that's full of great tips and information on crafting, selling, and just life in general. There's never a dull moment at AOTC, so if you like fun and crazy people, as well as art, crafts, and mischief, come join the fun! You won't be sorry.
Even if you're not a crafter yourself, you're sure to find something you like. Everyone on the forum has tremendous talent that deserves at least a look! Check out some of the items I've purchased from team members:

Custom pinback buttons by Get Your Buttons:

OddGirl Creates
I contacted Lucie of OddGirl Creates on Etsy about doing a trade. I had been eyeing her earrings for a while and thought I would just go for it and ask if she'd like to trade. She responded quickly that she would love to!
I chose these 3 items:
-Pink & black skull earrings
-Black & white star earrings
-Green gingham heart earrings
She chose my Stars purse from MeanLook.net. :D
I received my earrings in about a week or less, which amazed me, considering that Lucie is all the way in Scotland! She uses surgical steel posts, which is great for me because my ears hate everything. I have not had a problem with irritation since I put them in.
My favorite part, other than the sheer cuteness factor, is that the earrings don't match! It's not two pink skulls, it's a pink one and a black one. I LOVE that. You really don't see that a lot.
I am super happy with my trade and I'm so glad Lucie agreed to it! I definitely want to buy more from her shop. I highly recommend it to you too!

Thrift Store Finds - Fashion Sewing for Everyone by Adele Margolis
I love going to thrift stores. Who doesn't? You never know what you're going to find there, and for what crazy good price. I've decided to start blogging about my thrift store finds, when they are relevant to sewing.
There's a flea market type place in the nearby small town. It's located at an old school building, and it's piled to the roof with everything you can imagine.
I found this book: Fashion Sewing for Everyone by Adele P. Margolis. It looks old and beat up. The pages are yellow and dirty. That's part of what makes it so great for me. It's been USED. I was super excited to find it, and for only $3.00.
This book is true vintage, published in 1974. It is full of great information and helpful illustrations.
While I was researching this author, who also happens to be known as a sewing expert, I came across this blog post about her passing:
Sad news, but it seems her books have touched many people, and that is an accomplishment to be proud of.

Happy New Year!
I am really excited for 2010. It seems like almost everyone had a bad 2009 and is determined to kick ass in 2010. Myself included. :D
I am determined to list items at least Monday through Thursday. That will keep my shop active and hopefully sales coming.
One of my goals for 2010 is to concentrate more on higher priced items and not as much on lower priced items like pouches. I love making pouches, but I feel that I should be making more clothing items. First though, I am going through my 'unfinished projects' bin and eliminating those items. I really hate that bin! I have turned quite a few into pouches and makeup bags, but I've barely made a dent in it. That's what I'll be working on first and foremost though.
I also hope to make my website into a real website. meanlook.net needs to become more!!!
I am also planning to open a bank account specifically for Mean Look, as well as obtaining my business license & tax ID. That is all so confusing but I'm trying to figure it out! And I'm going to actually start keeping track of everything.
So here's to lots of hard work and lots of payoff in 2010!
