ATTACK!!!

Attack of The Craft - A Discussion Forum for Crafters, DiY Artisans, and Lovers of Handmade!

One of my favorite places to frequent online is a forum called Attack of the Craft.  I refer to it as "the forum" because there really is no other that I care so much about.  Attack of the Craft is a super fun place that's full of great tips and information on crafting, selling, and just life in general.  There's never a dull moment at AOTC, so if you like fun and crazy people, as well as art, crafts, and mischief, come join the fun!  You won't be sorry.

Even if you're not a crafter yourself, you're sure to find something you like.  Everyone on the forum has tremendous talent that deserves at least a look!  Check out some of the items I've purchased from team members:

OddGirl Creates

I contacted Lucie of OddGirl Creates on Etsy about doing a trade.  I had been eyeing her earrings for a while and thought I would just go for it and ask if she'd like to trade.  She responded quickly that she would love to!

I chose these 3 items:

-Pink & black skull earrings
-Black & white star earrings
-Green gingham heart earrings

She chose my Stars purse from MeanLook.net.  :D

I received my earrings in about a week or less, which amazed me, considering that Lucie is all the way in Scotland!  She uses surgical steel posts, which is great for me because my ears hate everything.  I have not had a problem with irritation since I put them in.

My favorite part, other than the sheer cuteness factor, is that the earrings don't match!  It's not two pink skulls, it's a pink one and a black one.  I LOVE that.  You really don't see that a lot.

Close-up of how they look in!

I am super happy with my trade and I'm so glad Lucie agreed to it!  I definitely want to buy more from her shop.  I highly recommend it to you too!

Thrift Store Finds - Fashion Sewing for Everyone by Adele Margolis

I love going to thrift stores. Who doesn't? You never know what you're going to find there, and for what crazy good price. I've decided to start blogging about my thrift store finds, when they are relevant to sewing.

There's a flea market type place in the nearby small town. It's located at an old school building, and it's piled to the roof with everything you can imagine.

I found this book: Fashion Sewing for Everyone by Adele P. Margolis. It looks old and beat up. The pages are yellow and dirty. That's part of what makes it so great for me. It's been USED. I was super excited to find it, and for only $3.00.

This book is true vintage, published in 1974. It is full of great information and helpful illustrations.

While I was researching this author, who also happens to be known as a sewing expert, I came across this blog post about her passing:

Sad news, but it seems her books have touched many people, and that is an accomplishment to be proud of.
